It's mid-February, and oops...I'm off the "wagon"

By:  Erika Erlenbach, President

I hope everyone is staying warm out there!  We had a great Executive Exchange last Wednesday.  Thanks to all who were there and participated.  I love this new format for half of our meetings and hope you all are too!

So I've found myself falling back into old habits lately...I guess I fit in to the standard mold.  You set new resolutions on January 1 and by mid-February...oops, you're off the wagon, back to doing the same things.  It's frustrating!  Complaining about it and beating ourselves up doesn't help, so I'm reestablishing the resolutions I set for myself...and this time, will hopefully stick to.  While there are a number of resolutions I've fallen off the wagon with (no, I will NOT eat that carrot cake...um, yes, I'll just have a bite...or, maybe a little more) one that I am determined to renew and stick to, is getting out of my box and trying new things.

EWLKN is looking to stick to some resolutions as well and one that the membership asked for was more involvement and opportunities to get to know each other better.  The board has been exploring ideas of ways to become more involved in the community and holding more social “meet up” events.  We will soon be sharing some ways you can be more involved as a member through some charitable outreach, fun social/active events, marketing events and more.  We would love to hear from you with your suggestions to help us stick to it!

George Clooney OR the Super Bowl????? FEBRUARY'S MEET UP!!

By:  Dana Jordan Nieters

Hey Ladies!  I don't know about you, but the winter humdrums has me in desperate need of a girl's afternoon out and I can't think of any better time than when my man is glued to the tv all day watching pre-footBall, football, then post-football! I've heard great things about Our Town Cinemas in Davidson: it's now showing what's supposed to be a fabulous movie, the Descendents, starring George Clooney, and there's the most important ingredient, WINE! Who wants to join me on Sunday?  I was thinking the 4:15 show, with wine perhaps before or after. Let me know if you want to say NO to football and Yes to some George Clooney and wine! Email me at dana@lakenormanwoman.com or call me at 704-516-9363.  Dana

Educational and Delicious...You Can't Beat That!

By: Erika Erlenbach, President

What a great meeting we had Wednesday!  For those of you who were there, thanks and I hope you enjoyed it as well!  It was a wonderful turnout to hear Dr. Chia-Li Chien discuss the top mistakes entrepreneurs should avoid and how to navigate through this turbulent economy.  The group was busy taking notes and I feel sure we'll see Ms. Chien's suggestions followed.  A big shout out to Dr. Serena Murray (Doctor of Chiropractic with Advanced Spinal Fitness) who was our breakfast sponsor...and ladies, she didn't just "bring" breakfast...she MADE it.  Not only was it delicious, it was...gasp...healthy!)

There are still some opportunities to be a breakfast sponsor.  Contact Dana Jordan if you're interested.

Also, be on the lookout for some fun "meet ups" that we'll be scheduling.  We as a group want to get to know each other on a more social level as well and are gearing up to do just that!

CONFESSIONS OF A MOMPRENEUR: Leadership Lessons my daughters taught me in business

Sherre Demao - July 27th

As founder of a 27-year old award-winning marketing strategy and branding firm, Sherré has literally raised a business and three daughters, all younger than her business.  As a result, her daughters got front row seats to the life of an entrepreneurial mom and were frequently at Mom’s side during times when what comes out of the mouths of babes is priceless, as well as precious wisdom. Sherré shared some light-hearted and poignant examples of lessons learned and insights gained from those little voices in her head that were not her imagination, but her children.  Her stories began with one that through her daughter’s friend’s desire to go to a camp led her to learn the value of “I will either find away or make a way”.
